You turn away your gaze
your pride
your ignorance
overshadowing what life offers you.
Stop and look back at the opportunity
for it may not be there tomorrow.
Your eyes get heavy
holding the tears
of unfulfilled love
occluding you to see
the beautiful person
standing besides you.
Wipe away that pain and
hug that kind soul
for they may not be there tomorrow.
You hide behind the wall
of misunderstandings
even though you could hear
voices of falling out.
Break down the wall
and hold their hand
for they may not be there tomorrow.
The disbelief in yourself
grows larger than your shadows
encumbering you to move
any further.
Do not step back
in uncertainty
for the chance may not be there tomorrow.
You look down
walk roughly in despair
while melancholy
tries to chop down your wings.
Look up, see the vast sky
and spread your wings to fly
for time may not be there tomorrow.
Love what you have got today
for it may not be there tomorrow.
Love the life you have been blessed with
for you may not be there tomorrow.

“may not be there tomorrow” is such a lovely line which, while stating the obvious, is overlooked by so many people. These people live as if they will go on forever. They procrastinate so much that when they reach their later years, they can only look back and think “I wonder if I could have ……………” or “Perhaps I should have ……………….” or “If only I had …………………………”. Great writing Kritika. 🙂

Wall of misunderstanding is a good imagery used in this poetry. That really need to be broken with self belief and confidence on our inner voice and gut feeling.
Uncertainty is the part of life and that need to be dealt with care.
Really we need to fly above high in sky with our wings of imagination and continuous effort that will suerly lead us to success and happiness in different dimensions of life.
Thanks a lot for your beautiful poetry.

Very well written. Time is like a gamble. You lose or gain.

Hi Naima – I don’t think that time is a gamble. Whether you lose or gain is dependent upon what you do with your time. Time itself does not control that. If you keep putting things off until “tomorrow” (and of course “tomorrow” never comes), then you are losing opportunities which you may not get again. You lose, or gain, based on how well you use your time. 🙂

I guess she meant what we usually mean when we say Karma is a bitch.
Karma and time both depends on our take on it, but it’s like a trap sometimes where one get caught easily or to say in simpler words the reality sometimes.

I think we have a cultural difference impacting our interpretation here. I do not believe that anything in a past life is impacting me in this one (which I understand is the general acceptance of Karma). Please feel free to educate me on this if I have it wrong! Also, I believe that any form of suffering is simply teaching us more about life. It therefore follows that by doing nothing because of unfortunate circumstances can translate into personal growth ……. which is certainly not wasting time.

It’s in our hands but like a gamble we either win or lose (if you know what I mean). We have opportunities , hope and much more to make our time worthwhile but then we have regret, sorrow, pain and misery following us too. It’s our discretion as in what to choose to confide ourselves in but with everyday we just lose out on time on the whole and it’s our duty to make every minute on this planet worthwhile not just for ourselves but for others too.
Peace.

So beautiful and well-thought ! Each stanza truthfully talked about the opportunities, the love, the moments we just miss because we are looking for something else. “You may not be there tomorrow” has the potential to transform the way of life if understood completely ! A brilliant post, Kritika. 🙂
