Certainly there was some light
An infinite sky over my head
Nurturing soil under my feet,
But what my life offered me
were only the darkest shadows.

You reminded me of a Ghalib couplet
“Is khana-e-hasti sey guzar jaaoonga be-laus
Saya hun, faqat naksh-ba-deewar nahin hun”

Khana-e-hasti (this dwelling of life i.e. the world) be-laus (without leaving an imprint)
naqsh-ba-deewar (fresco)
I am a mere shadow ephemeral, not a fresco gouged out and painted on the wall of this world. The translation takes away the magic..

Thank you Kritika for nominating me for this great challenge. I will write on it very soon. And, your poem Shadows is so deep meaning. Loved it. Not all endings are happy endings, not times are happy times. And the weird thing is, I was thinking about Shadows a while ago as there was no electricity and here it is a deep significant poem on Shadows 🙂

If you wish to you may accept or decline.
Oh! Wow. There are many thoughts that can be written on shadows. I had many on my mind but I’m a slacker, you know.

Slacker alert here also 😛 Of course I accept 😀 Yeah we all possess such different perspectives that it becomes interesting to know how others see the World 🙂
