Many interpretations can be made. However, to me it’s the ache in the heart, since the pain in the left arm is associated with heart attack.
I get that. Triple by-pass 2006 and emotional reference. That there may arise alternative interpretations that are unique and not anticipated by the author means the poem and the poet have been very successful.
I always believe in what you just said. It is wonderful on the part of readers as well; how few scribbled words can be defined by them in different ways.
