Esoteric Man

As the night wraps itself in velvet silence
He unveils his serape of feigned happiness

The lugubrious reflection of light through the glass
half filled with his drunken musings of night
half filled with whirling wind of her memories
falls on the tear-stained pages clasping his insanity.

The words of heartaches etched relentlessly
He gives voice to the aphonic cries of the blues.

The windstorm rushes in through the broken windowpane
blowing away the inked poetries into many pieces
breaking the glass of survival into many fragments
destroying each spoken-unspoken word that never sufficed.

The dead and buried floats on the blood oozing out
Indelible suffering carved in the cuts of an esoteric man.

  1. You are a genius! How you conveyed the struggles with the knowing about so many “secrets” and not having an excuse to blame anyone for what happens. The only way of healing is accepting that life simply happens. At least that is what I feel when I am reading your words.

  2. All of us have a dark side, some manage to keep it hidden under the surface, some don’t. I’ve learned that instead of fighting it and torturing a part of our own psyche, it’s more helpful to accept it, understand it and channelize it. For me, art is a medium to express feelings i myself don’t understand. And once i can understand myself, others will too. Of course it needs a LOT of patience 🙂
Your work is awesome, especially this one. It has an authenticity that makes the reader empathize with the emotions behind. Thanks for sharing this. It got me thinking 🙂

    • I agree with you completely. The dark and the melancholic sides of me are hidden beneath the words I write and I have learned to live it that way. I embrace them with words and let it rain until the cloud is left with no water.

I am very pleased to know that it made you wonder. Thank you for your kind appreciation and a wonderful comment 🙂
