- “Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers,
but to be fearless in facing them.Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but
for the heart to conquer it.”― Rabindranath Tagore
2. “The small wisdom is like water in a glass:
clear, transparent, pure.
The great wisdom is like the water in the sea:
dark, mysterious, impenetrable.”― Rabindranath Tagore
3. “Where the mind is without fear
and the head is held high,
where knowledge is free.
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls.
Where words come out from the depth of truth,
where tireless striving stretches its arms toward perfection.
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost it’s way
into the dreary desert sand of dead habit.
Where the mind is led forward by thee
into ever widening thought and action.
In to that heaven of freedom, my father,
LET MY COUNTRY AWAKE!”
― Rabindranath Tagore, Gitanjali
This is in response to the 3 day 3 quote challenge by Mon from Transcend. Like always I am posting 3 quotes for Day 3. Today it was about words of wisdom by Rabindranath Tagore.
Rabindranath Tagore was a Bengali polymath who reshaped Bengali literature and music, as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Author of Gitanjali and its “profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse”, he became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. In translation his poetry was viewed as spiritual and mercurial; however, his “elegant prose and magical poetry” remain largely unknown outside Bengal. Tagore introduced new prose and verse forms and the use of colloquial language into Bengali literature, thereby freeing it from traditional models based on classical Sanskrit. He was highly influential in introducing the best of Indian culture to the West and vice versa, and he is generally regarded as the outstanding creative artist of the modern Indian subcontinent.

I don’t think I believe his words on deep waters, they haven’t been penetrated, they’re not impenetrable. And I’d like to know what he said on a mind without logic…. I’m in one of those moods! 😀

You crack me up, you know that?
I guess what he means is that it is not easy to have that real wisdom. Have you ever stand in front of an ocean or sea and let wave pass through you. As far as I remember it pushed me and I never felt that it passed through me.
I will find it and will let ya know 😀

Great quotes kritika! I didn’t get the mind all logic thing??
LikeLiked by 1 person
A mind all logic means a mind full with logic, it is similar to a knife with blades, when you use both you bleed metaphorically and literally respectively 🙂 It is hard to use logic all the time, that is the point, according to me.

But at most times logic counts, don’t you think?

Well, yes, at times. Maybe I will have to ask someone who can enlighten me more 🙂

Thank you, Rehman.
Oops! Since this challenge was given to me quite a number of times, therefore, I did not bother to write the rules.
The rules are that you have to post quotes for 3 days and nominate 3 people each day, some also interpreted the original rules as: three quotes per day for 3 days, but you may do the way it pleases you 🙂 Thank you for accepting the challenge. Looking forward to your posts 🙂

I love these quotes. Rabindranath Tagore is one of my favorite poets. When my beautiful niece died in a car accident my sister and brother in law printed “On the brink of eternity” on the memorial service program. It had always brought me breathlessly to tears, he is eloquent beyond measure. Thank you.

I am glad to hear that from you. No wonder he was honored with Nobel Prize 🙂
His words touch hearts and kindle emotions.
