After The Storm

204008

Understand, that when people you love
slip quietly away from you
your heart makes the loudest cry;
that cry shouldn’t be stored up
and make you heavy each day,
because the sky screeches thunder
when there is a violent storm
and later it rains down all its pain.
Understand, that the rain would,
wash off the gloomy clouds to
give you a clear sight again.

  1. Amazing how you conveyed that, Kritika. Seeing a person you love drifting away from you and trying to ignore that fact truly is the loudest cry a heart could make. And all you said is the process of going through that thunderstorm until the rainbow is finally visible. Been there too and you nailed it totally. Great! Btw. I love rainbows… lol

  2. A poignant yet inspiring write up. I could feel your words resonating in my heart. Some say that time heals our scars but I feel that we just learn to bury them inside us with the passage of time. And once we bury them, we can finally see the rainbow. There’s this saying, you can’t see the rainbow without a bit of rain. Thank you! 🙂

    • Even I do not agree with that saying – Time heals scars. They are always present, but we learn to live with them, and as you said, we bury them inside when they aren’t visible to others.
      I remember writing a short piece on it.

      Thank you for reading 🙂

  3. I think that the pain is inevitable, but also a necessary part of the healing process. The analogy you’ve chosen in the form of rain is excellent, as it represents the tears falling, engulfing you, but also the emotional cleansing that takes place. This was wonderful, Kritika!
